  11. Can someone help me pin-point something in my system that might be
  12. causing these problems?

  14. Here are some specs on my system:
  15.  
  16.   - A3000/030/25MHz, 2MB CHIP RAM, 4MB Static Column FAST RAM,
  17.     8MB SupraRAM card (16-bit FAST RAM), soft-kicked, WB v2.1
  18.   - Internal 100MB Quantum hard drive
  19.   - Iomega Zip drive
  20.   - NEC CDR-25 CD-ROM drive
  21.   - Regular ECS chip set (none are latest version that I know of)
  22.   - GVP IV-24 board

  24. Here are some programs I run in my Startup-Sequence:

  26.   - xLoadSeg (allows system to recognize XPK-packed executables)
  27.   - PPLoadSeg ("                        " PowerPacked executables)
  28.   - SetMan
  29.   - SaferPatches
  30.   - SetPatch
  31.   - BindNames (new way of handling ASSIGNs)
  32.   - PathManager (easier way of setting of paths)
  33.  
  34. Now, some programs I run in my User-Startup:
  35.  
  36.   - Stack 20000
  37.   - SetAlert
  38.   - Snap (for grabbing text and placing into clipboard)
  39.   - fbl SLOW (for faster graphics routines)
  40.   - Chop (press Alt-HELP to cut screen bitplanes to 2...speeds system)
  41.   - AddMenu (lets you put items under Tools menu in Workbench screen)
  42.   - Executive (supposed to handle multitasking better)
  43.  
  44. Now, in WBStartup:
  45.  
  46.   - AddPower
  47.   - DMABlanker (screen blanker, also turns off DMA for speedup)
  48.   - DropIt! (places icon on WB for dropping files onto to execute)
  49.   - GrabIFF (for grabbing screens or parts of a screen)
  50.   - LastAlert2 (gives Guru info after a crash)
  51.   - MagicMenu (pop-up menu at mouse pointer)
  52.   - MFS (Multi-File System)
  53.   - MouseBlanker (blanks mouse pointer after a set time)
  54.   - NoteIt! (Notepad on WB for keeping notes)
  55.   - PopFile (commodity - inserts path of file selected from requester)
  56.   - Remind (commodity for keeping track of dates)
  57.   - TinyClock (clock on WB screen)
  58.   - WBExtender (I think this one gives system info in WB menubar)
  59.   - WKSC (alters keyboard shortcuts for WB menu items)
  60.   - xData (specifies progs that are to recognize XPK-packed files)

  62. So that's about it for my set-up...

  64. First of all, if you see a program here that I'm using that you know
  65. can cause problems, please let me know...
  66.  
  67. Ok, here are some problems I've been having...
  68.  
  69.   - Once in a while when I start up VLTjr (term program) and I press the
  70.     ALT key and '1' on the numeric keypad to bring up the phone book
  71.     menu (I think this is an ARexx command that brings up the menu), my
  72.     A3000 will Guru.  Other times (even more rare) the lines that define
  73.     the menu buttons will sometimes become dashes instead of solid lines.
  74.     Are there problems with ARexx that might be causing this?

  76.   - Sometimes after my A3000 has crashed (happened today when VLTjr
  77.     crashed as described above) and I re-boot, LastAlert gives me the
  78.     following info on the Guru...

  80.         Alert Number: 0x8000000B
  81.         Alert Task:   0x07c063A2
  82.         Alert Name:   ACPUG_LineF
  83.         Spec. Alert:  Hardware/CPU
  84.         Spec. Error:  Line 1111 Emulator error

  86.     This is a strange one to me...I used to have an EMPLANT installed,
  87.     but that's long gone now, and all the associated files with it.
  88.     I used to think the EMPLANT was causing this, but since I took it out,
  89.     well...and I don't have any other emulation software installed (like
  90.     ShapeShifter, PC-Task, etc.).

  92.   - Recently I've encountered a strange problem with graphics...it's hard
  93.     to explain what I was doing at the time, and it has happened only a
  94.     couple of times.  It happened on the Workbench screen, and I think it
  95.     occurred when I opened a window, or it might have been when a file
  96.     requester appeared.  Each row on the screen seemed to double, like
  97.     between each row was placed a row of black.  BTW my WB screen is
  98.     640x400 8-colour screen and viewed on a VGA monitor.  It was like
  99.     there was suddenly a problem viewing the interlaced screen.
  100.     Funny thing too, when I activated a program called Lacer in my Tools
  101.     drawer, the screen became normal again.  What in the world would cause
  102.     this?

  104. Well, that's about all I can think of right now for problems.

  106. If you can share any remedies, I'd really appreciate it.
